Hallowed Be His Name
Hallowed is the starting line of Set Free churches big events of the year. We like to start off big with a lot of give aways, great music, and tons of fun. Finishing"Hallowed", we are planning and looking forward to Thanksgivings big feast and the "Toy and Bike giveaway" for Christmas.
Hallowed came quick and we didn't know how we where going to pull it off. With the support from many, we were able to have another successful event. This year we had tons of vendors, lots of kids games, haunted/reality Gospel house, great music, and tons of great give aways.
The church was filled with people. Our church band started the night getting everyone rocking. Christ Has Chosen got everyone dancing to gospel R&B music. San Diego band brought back the memories of 15th Street days of praising Jesus. The classics came as Eric Turner teamed up with Darrell Mansfield. Everyone loved their blues melody. The kids especially loved jumping around to the sound of Darrell wailing on his harmonica.
The Haunted house line stretched around the building as the people in line would hear the screams of people inside. The student ministry put together a scary story of what sin can do to peoples lives. As the crowd moved through the maze of dark plastic and strobe lights, they would feel the touch of spider webs and scream when someone would jump out at them. They would be lead through a maze that lead to scene. Each scene was acted out by the students.
The first scene was a suicide. They would watch a man who lost his job, marriage is failing, and kid in jail for drugs shot himself. They would then rush to a coffin where a young 8yr old boy was shot by careless gangs. Then to a drunk driving accident with a car that hit a young kid. The fourth scene was a young girl disrespecting her mom and fighting. The crowd would exit and we would share the good news of how Jesus came to forgive us of sins and help us change from a destructive life. We lead over 200 people through this and about half of the crowd would ask Jesus into their hearts. It was amazing everyone time.
Pastor Willie gathered everyone inside. He told the story of Jesus visiting Lazarus tomb. Jesus said that he is "The Resurrection and the Life". He talked about how his brother in law Larry (Marsha's brother) who died earlier that morning said yes to Jesus a few days ago before he died. Marsha was privileged to lead her brother to Jesus. He then challenged the crowd of people to say yes to Jesus. Over 50 people said yes. This was followed with 9 up rapping and getting everyone to celebrate. Pastor Marty baptized 11 people that night.
Many came because of the donated items we where giving away. They gathered around to hear for their number on their ticket. The kids wanted the bikes, radios, skateboards, and all the other great giveaways. It was awesome to see the kids excited when their numbers where called and see the smiles on their parents faces. They wouldn't stop thank us.
We then gave the car away to an amazing lady. The lady that won the car was so excited. She asked for the mic from Pastor Willie because she had something to say. She then told us that she's been helping a homeless lady and her 3 kids for the past month get into a home. She helped her get it furnished and all she needed now was a vehicle. She than tells us that she is going to give the car to the homeless lady she's been helping. The woman she was giving the car too was at "Hallowed" but was in the ladies car watching her little kids that fell a sleep. She couldn't wait to tell her that she now has a new car because of Set Free. We know it's because of Jesus and you who helped this happen.
Thank you to everyone that supported this amazing event. You helped bring smiles to so many people from the community. You helped spread the Gospel and help change peoples lives. Let's do it again at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
