Thanksgiving Celebration at Set Free Church
                                                                          By Suzi Gregory

November 25th, Thanksgiving. Preparations began months in advance. It starts with donations, both money and food. Then we get the turkeys, lots of turkeys. Next we start organizing all the volunteers. It's a busy time for us because it takes a lot to put on this kind of Thanksgiving where we reach out to our community.  It was an awesome success, starting with the all-nighter that the cooks pulled off, the tons of food they brought, and all of the volunteers who gave of their own time to come down and help.

We fed more than 400 people and gave out almost 100 food bags. Pastor Willie started the dinner off with an invocation and prayer. It is so good to break bread with Jesus and I want to assure you He was here Thanksgiving day. There was a lady by the name of Georgia who came to church with her daughter on Thanksgiving. She had pulled up in her truck and she got out and said that one of the disciples from Set Free Church had given her a flyer and she just put it in her purse. She told me her husband died about 9 months ago and there was just her and her daughter. The daughter said they should come to the dinner here at church. Georgia asked if it was ok for them to be here because she didn't know anyone. Absolutely! That's why we do this. We want to reach out to those who are broken, hurt, lonely and hungry. We are here to feed the hungry not only with real food but with spiritual food from the word of God, and on November 26th, Thanksgiving we were able to do both.
